Summary
Have you fallen deeply in love,
But get nervous approaching your dove?
Don't be stupid;
Hire a cupid!
'Cause sometimes love needs a shove.
Eliza Herman (a.k.a. The World's Worst Cupid) has spent her entire life carefully avoiding her calling as a Descendant of Eros. After all, happily-ever-afters are nothing but a myth. But when a family crisis requires her to fill in at the local Cupid-for-hire shop, Eliza finds herself enchanting couples under the watchful eye of her assigned mentor, Jake Sanders...the one man she could never get out of her head.
Before long, Eliza is rethinking her stance on romance—until things start going terribly wrong with her enchantments. Now Eliza and Jake must fight to unravel a conspiracy that could destroy thousands of relationships, including their own...and spell the end of Love itself.
No pressure, right?

This is a cute, fun romantic comedy take on the paranormal romance genre. It reminds me a lot of Kristine Grayson's Fates series, only instead of a modern twist on old fairy tales Crazy Cupid Love is about the Descendants of gods and creatures from Greek myth and how they get by in the modern day. It's definitely a refreshing change from the jaded PI/bounty hunter schtick that so many paranormal romances seem to cling to, and is much more light-hearted and upbeat, though at times takes that a little too far and is just *too* out there and hard to relate to or take seriously.
Eliza and her brother, Elijah (BTW - that's AWFUL - who would do that?) are such fun characters, and I'm hoping there are more books in this series so we get to read more about Elijah falling in love. Jake is also a *dreamboat* and I love that there are the occasional little half-chapters inserted throughout the book that give Jake's POV. It really adds an extra dimension to the story to get into his head, and also made me go *SQUEEEEEE!* and have little floaty hearts come out of my head. Possibly a small cartoon bird or two as well.
There's also a LOT to this book, with Eliza and Jake's romance, Eliza's own personal journey and self-growth, and then the bad-guy plot (and hoo boy, the bad guy was actually a surprise to me, even though there was plenty of foreshadowing and you'd think I'd have seen that coming but NO! I did NOT!) All of these elements overlap and intertwine to keep the story moving forward and the action at a pace that's really enjoyable.
One more thing I really love is the way Amanda Heger just super naturally has people of all genders fall in love, and her couples aren't all male/female pairings. There's no big fanfare or noise made, she just quietly has couples of all sorts pairing up, and I appreciate it. More of this in all the books, please. :)

I am such a fan when things happen organically in a novel, because that is sort of how it happens in real life. This sounds pretty fun. I bumped this book last week for the new Shalvis (I couldn't resist), but will be reading it soon.
